Williams Racing has revealed today that Alex Albon is set to stay at the team for the foreseeable future.
Albon has signed a “multi-year” contract extension which will extend this partnership into the next set of Formula 1 regulations, i.e. beyond the 2026 season.
Albon’s current contract was set to see him through the 2025 season with Williams Racing.
The Thai driver first debuted with Williams Racing during the 2022 FIA Formula 1 World Championship, after losing his 2020 Red Bull seat. In the 2022 campaign, Albon brought 4 out of the team’s 8 overall points that season.
In 2023, Albon was responsible for driving his 2023 Williams FW45 to points and Q3 appearances on multiple occasions, bringing 27 points to the team’s 28 of the 2023 championship. Williams Racing finished 7th in the overall Constructor’s Championship in that year.
In 2024, Alex Albon and Williams Racing are yet to put a score on the board, but there is faith on either side, as signified by this multi-year signing.
Alex Albon commented on his extension with team, sharing his absolute belief in this long-term project, “I am incredibly happy to be remaining with Williams Racing and to continue working with such a talented and dedicated team of people.
“It has been a difficult start to the year but since joining Williams we have made significant progress together and I have seen the huge changes happening behind the scenes to take us back to the front of the grid.
“This is a long-term project that I really believe in and want to play a key role in which is why I have signed a multi-year contract.”
