Aston Martin has officially confirmed that Lance Stroll will partner Fernando Alonso for the 2025 season. His new deal will take him into the new era of regulations that starts in 2026.
The Canadian driver is having a stronger season versus his teammate this time around. After Alonso bagged eight podiums to his zero in 2023, the 25-year-old trails 4-6 in Grand Prix qualifying at present.
In the Drivers’ Championship, Stroll is on 17 points, 24 points and two spots behind his two-time World Champion teammate.
The 3-time podium finisher and 1-time polesitter will be hoping that Aston Martin can improve their car as the season goes on. They started the season as a regular Q3 contender but have regressed badly since the Chinese Grand Prix in April.
Lance Stroll, Aston Martin Aramco Formula One® Team driver, said: “I’m super happy to have committed to staying with the team for 2025 and beyond. It’s amazing to see how far we’ve come in the last five years; we’ve grown so much as a team and there’s still so much more to look forward to.”
Mike Krack, Team Principal, Aston Martin Aramco Formula One® Team, said: “We are delighted to confirm Lance’s future with Aston Martin Aramco. He has played a key role in building this team. His technical feedback, alongside his committed simulator work, has helped contribute to the continuous development of the car each season. The consistency and stability of both Lance and Fernando remaining with our team is a great platform to continue to realise our ambitions. We look forward to creating some more incredible memories and achieving further success together.”
