Mahindra had a difficult start to the 2023/2024 Formula E season, as it didn’t manage to score any points up until the Berlin E-Prix; the ninth race of the season. From Berlin onwards, the Indian team seemed to be making some progress.
With a pole position and 8th place finish in Berlin, a 4th place in Portland and a 5th place in London, Mortara managed to score the majority of Mahindra’s points. He eventually finished the season on P16 in the standings, whilst teammate Nyck de Vries finished in P18.
Although he would have loved to finish higher in the standings, Mortara has to admit that this might have been the best possible results. “We had quite a few highs and lows during the season”, he explained to Pit Debrief after the London E-Prix.
“But I would say that I think it’s been a positive season for us. We were standing quite a bit on the back foot with the car that we had, but still managed actually to unlock quite a bit of performance out of it. Especially in the second part of the season. So now it’s up to us to work hard during the off-season, and hopefully be even more competitive.”
