The Kiwi driver will compete in his third IndyCar season with the Ohio-based team, replacing David Malukas behind the wheel of car no. 66.

Armstrong, who had won the Rookie of the Year award on his first year in the series in spite of not racing ovals, ended his 2024 campaign with Ganassi fourteenth in the standings, scoring his first podium in Detroit.

The talented young driver is excited for the new challenge awaiting him, as he commented the announcement: “I’m very proud to be joining Meyer Shank Racing in 2025. I had a great feeling when I met both Mike Shank and Jim Meyer, their passion for performance and meticulous work ethic was obvious from our first conversation and I want to thank them both for this opportunity. “

He will partner up with freshly renewed Felix Rosenqvist, in his second year with the team following his Arrow McLaren stint, joining him on his quest to secure a first win since Castroneves’s 500 win back in 2021.

I’m looking forward to getting to know everyone at MSR over the off-season with the goal of hitting the ground running at the first race of the season in St Pete. This year I got closer to where I want to be performance wise, including oval racing for the first time and I’m looking forward to continuing to push up the order with MSR.”

“We want to be at the front, fighting for wins and I believe we have the recipe to do it,” the former Ferrari Academy Driver concluded, looking forward to his debut with the Honda powered team at St. Petersburg in March.

Team Owner Mike Shank only had kind words for his newest signing, praising his adaptability as a driver with an European racing background:

We’re very excited to welcome Marcus onboard. He’s really shown a lot of growth and consistency in his first two years in INDYCAR, which is really difficult to do. This series is probably one of the most competitive series out there and he has proven himself to be a real contender.”

“We are going to do everything we can to give him the car and the tools to produce results next year,” Shank added, looking forward to improve the team’s best finishing result of 2024, Rosenqvist’s P3 at
