Luke Browning is confirmed to be on the 2025 Formula 2 grid to make his full-time debut under Hitech GP. But this won’t be the first time we see the Williams Racing Academy Driver at the F2 paddock. He was brought in to complete the last 3 races of the 2024 season. Replacing his fellow Williams Academy Driver Zak O’Sullivan at ART Grand Prix.
Browning’s maiden weekend
Browning’s maiden F2 race weekend ended on a high as he scored points upon his debut. The Briton scored an impressive P7 finish in the Baku Feature race.
During Qualifying, he managed to place himself P11 on the grid with a timing of 1:55.724. Only 0.867s behind pole sitter Trident’s Verschoor.
The results are truly impressive considering it was Browning’s first time in the number #2 ART Grand Prix car, and he only did 3 laps in Free Practice. This was also the Briton’s first time in any Formula 2 car. Having only completed his Formula 3 campaign in Monza 2 weeks prior.
Building momentum
This impressive momentum only continued into the final two races of the season. Despite the young driver reporting a tough weekend at Qatar. Saying that he was often confused and struggled to pull speed from the car. He still managed to place P15 in the Sprint Race. He also found himself just shy of points as he placed P11 during the Feature Race.
The Briton found himself in the points yet again during the final race of the season in Abu Dhabi. Although the team struggled to find pace during Qualifying, resulting in a disappointing P17 placement for Browning. The Williams Academy Driver managed to fight through the grid while managing his Pirelli rubbers. Bringing his ART Grand Prix car back into points at P6 during the season finale Sprint Race. The team’s rebound helped the team regain their once lost confidence.
He may have only done three races with ART Grand Prix, but he managed to deliver an impressive drive each weekend. Luke Browning may have entered Formula 2 with little to no experience, but he now enters his first full season with Hitech GP armoured with his 3 race experiences. Who knows what other impressive results Browning will bring in the 2025 season.
