To say the 2024 F3 season for Callum Voisin was a feast or famine would be an understatement. The 2023 GB3 champion had a rollercoaster of a campaign.
Rodin Motorsport struggling for pace
From the season-opener in Bahrain through to the Austrian round at the Red Bull Ring, Rodin struggled. Although Joseph Loake scored points in both races in Monaco, some fortunate was required thanks to the chaos in the qualifying sessions.
After the sixth round of the 2024 F3 campaign, Callum Voisin had scored no points. His best result was a P12. However, he did generally look the stronger Rodin driver, even if the standings did not show it.
The turnaround begins at Silverstone
Voisin qualified inside the top 10 at his home event. This meant he started P4 for the Sprint. As chaos unfolded throughout it, he kept his nose clean. A P4 finish saw him finally get off the mark in 2024.
In mixed conditions at Silverstone on Sunday morning, the decision of Voisin to stick with dry tyres throughout the race paid off handsomely. Unfortunately for him, he lost a first victory in the series as he picked up a 10-second time penalty for passing Esterson off the track, and it dropped him to P3. Lindblad and Mini took P1 and P2.
Nonetheless, the 18-year-old made a statement that day, and it gave us a clue of what was to come.
He followed it up with points in both races in Hungary.
Maiden F3 victory comes at Spa
All drivers dream of winning at Spa-Francorchamps. Voisin did that with authority in the F3 feature. It was a lights-to-flag victory from pole position. He faced three Safety Car periods/restarts on the day.
In the space of 6 races, he went from no points to 67. He vaulted up to P12 in the standings.
A championship contender in 2025?
Although he did not score points in Monza because of a final lap collision in the Feature, Voisin was the standout driver as the season came to its conclusion.
He stays at Rodin Motorsport for 2025. If the team can provide him with machinery to run at the front, expect big things from the Brit this year.
