Jaguar will field Jamie Chadwick next Thursday. The triple-time W Series world champion and race winner in the Indy NXT series will get another taste of Formula E machinery having participated in the Women’s Test earlier in the season.
The inaugural Jeddah E-Prix will play host to the first Rookie Test of the season as 11 rookies will be get the opportunity to experience the new GEN3 Evo car and gain crucial experience in the all-electric category.
“Relishing the opportunity” as Jaguar and Chadwick are set for second outing
Ahead of her second Formula E outing this season, Chadwick said: “I am looking forward to driving for Jaguar TCS Racing at the Jeddah E-Prix. It was a great experience to drive the Jaguar I-TYPE 7 in Madrid last year and work closely with a World Championship-winning team, so I am relishing the opportunity to get behind the wheel again at a brand-new circuit.
“It is the first time Formula E has raced in Jeddah, so I know how important my feedback, data and insights on the race car and the track will be for the team.”
Team principle James Barclay praised Chadwick ahead of the test saying: “Jamie did a great job for the team at the women’s test in Madrid, both with her speed and professional approach, and we look forward to having her in the car once again.”
“Jamie will be the first driver to get behind the wheel of the Jaguar I-TYPE 7 at the new Jeddah circuit and so her insights from the session will be hugely important to our race preparations.”
Is a full-time drive on the cards for Chadwick in the future?
Having fielded female drivers in previous seasons, Chadwick will eye the opportunity to test for Jaguar as an opportunity to impress and put herself in contention for a full-time drive in the future.
With the British driver still the most decorated female racing driver in current motorsport it will prove interesting as to how well the British driver gets on up against drivers from a variety of different series and backgrounds.
With no past experience driving the Jeddah Corniche circuit, the 26-year-old will have to acclimatise quickly to the new circuit with the session set to only last 40 minutes.
