Despite a difficult debut season in the Formula Regional European Championship (FRECA) with Trident, Alpine Academy’s Nicola Lacorte steps up to F3 for the 2025 championship, this time partnering with DAMS Lucas Oil.  While speaking to the media, including Pit Debrief, Lacorte described his introduction to the French team and how his preparation for the 2025 FIA Formula 3 championship has been progressing.

While he identified that the experience was “something new” for him, he stated his new team’s approach to competition was similar to that of his former teams, PREMA Racing and Trident.

“Of course, it’s something new. Everything is quite new for me.”

“Getting in a new championship with a new team. It’s the first non-Italian team I work with. And I would say being this high-level team like Prema and Trident were, I think the approach is kind of the same. Only little things changed.”

Though Lacorte noted small differences between his former and current teams, he stated that he liked the way his current team works. Lacorte added that their preparation for the 2025 F3 season had been going well and that the team was ready for the new season, despite starting from zero.

“But I really like the way they work. And yeah, everything is going smoothly so far. The prep was the best we could do. And everyone is ready for [the] season. And we managed to get everything ready, even being a new team and starting from zero.”

Lacorte aiming to prove himself to F1 teams

As a member of the Alpine Academy, Lacorte will be aiming to prove himself worthy of their support as he works towards an F1 debut. However, the Italian driver’s main goal for the 2025 F3 season will be to learn as much as he can with DAMS Lucas Oil. He believes that achieving this goal will help him to grow as a driver which will in turn prepare him for an opportunity in F1.

“For sure, the goal will be to show the F1 teams that I have what it takes to get there.”

“But the main goal this season is to learn as much as I can with a supportive team like Dams-Lucas Oil and to grow as much as I can and get ready for the opportunity when it comes.”
