Nikola Tsolov, the Bulgarian lion, is set to race with Campos Racing in the upcoming F3 season.
Last year the driver was paired up with ART Grand Prix, placing an overall 11th in the championship.
The switch to Red Bull
The 18-year-old driver also switched from the Alpine Academy to Red Bull Junior Academy.
“I had a meeting with Helmut, which went really well. So I was happy with the conditions, to be honest. I think it was the best choice for my career, and I’m super happy right now with the work, we’re doing together.” said Tsolov to select media at a press conference.
A pressure dominating year?
While Tsolov does have a lot of pressure going into the season, he has found a way to accept and utilise this. He has come to understand that it no longer matters how much pressure he received but how he deals with it.
“You have to take into account that I’m not the only one feeling it. So it’s more for me not how much you have, it’s how you deal with it. So for me, that’s fine and something I can accept and can use to do a better season.”
Experience is key
When asked by Pit Debrief about the biggest lesson he learnt over the two seasons in the series, Tsolov explained how he jumped from F4 to F3 pretty quickly.
He had only one year of experience in F4, and he didn’t get to test much as well — which he states wasn’t his best decision.
“You don’t have much time to drive, so obviously when you have more experience, it quite shows a lot in a championship like this.
“I thought I knew a lot before going into F3. But literally in every aspect I’ve improved so, so much that I couldn’t imagine I would arrive to where I am today.”
However, Tsolov is geared up and ready for the 2025 season. The Bulgarian driver definitely feels confident after his great pre-season testing results.
Pre-season testing and its perks
“I think obviously after the pre-season test, I can feel confident about how the season is going to start.”
While the driver topped the second day of pre-season testing, he is still a bit weary of what may happen on track.
“So of course, it’s difficult to know with the new car and just testing. I’m pretty sure there’s lot of people trying to hide pace.” said Tsolov.
“Even if we don’t start the best way possible, we can still keep our cool and move on to the (rest of) the season.”
The driver does have a lot to look forward to this season. However, he is also ensuring to keep his composure and ensure the best results possible this season.
