Amaury Cordeel is back in F2 as he replaces Christian Mansell at Rodin Motorsport for the 2025 season.
The Australian shocked the Motorsport world by announcing he was taking a break from racing earlier this week. Mansell did not specify how long he would be away for. In F3 last year, he secured five podiums on his way to 5th in the overall standings.
It has opened the door for Cordeel to return to the series for a fourth season in F2. He will partner Irish driver Alex Dunne. The Belgian has just over a week to familiarise himself with the team before practice at the opening round in Australia.
Cordeel, who is 22, finished P4 in the Imola Sprint last year, his best result in the category to date. His best Feature race result was at Zandvoort in 2022, where he finished 6th. The best championship result he has had in the series is a lowly P17, coming in 2022 and 2024.
It’s his fourth different team as well, having driven previously for Van Amersfoort Racing, Invicta Virtuosi Racing, and Hitech Pulse-Eight.
Amaury Cordeel on the announcement of his return to F2 with Rodin Motorsport
“I’m delighted to be back competing in the FIA Formula 2 World Championship with Rodin Motorsport. I’m very much looking forward to working with the team to maximise our potential and achieve some strong results together.”
Rodin Motorsport Sporting Director and F2 Team Manager Benn Huntingford added on the addition of Amaury Cordeel:
“We have a lot to learn about each other quickly, having missed pre-season testing, but we’re looking forward to taking advantage of his experience and knowledge of the current F2 car and all that he has learned from his time in the series so far. He is a great addition to the team, and we look forward to working with him this season.”
