Lando Norris leads the championship standings for the first time in his career as he started the 2025 F1 season in perfect fashion at the Australian GP.

For the first time since heading into the 2022 Spanish GP, Max Verstappen no longer holds the championship top spot. A 2nd place on a weekend where McLaren had mega pace is certainly a good result however.

Despite lacking pace today, Mercedes took full advantage of the chaos as George Russell in P3 and a brilliant Kimi Antonelli in P4 saw the team bag 27 points, and they are level on points with McLaren at the top of the standings.

Alex Albon had an outstanding day as he finished P5 after the penalty for the Italian, bagging an invaluable 10 points for Williams Racing at the F1 Australian GP.

There was unexpected big results for Lance Stroll and Nico Hülkenberg as keeping it clean and tidy brought them home in P6 and P7. Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton did not have the best of pace as Ferrari struggled in the wet, before things went on strategy in changing conditions.

It was a painful P9 for Oscar Piastri on home soil as he spun in the tricky conditions as the rain fell while he was on hard tyres.
