The wet conditions posed a significant challenge during the race. Drivers had to navigate standing water and reduced visibility while trying to find the optimal racing line. On a street circuit, managing the spray and adapting to changing grip levels was crucial.

Redemption for Trident Motorsport

Following a disappointing Sprint Race where all three Trident cars failed to finish, Strømsted and his team were determined to score points in the Feature Race. The young Danish driver navigated the treacherous Albert Park circuit with remarkable maturity, maintaining a strong position throughout the rain-soaked event.

Speaking to the media including Pit Debrief, Strømsted explained, “It’s very important for the team to get some points.”

“The championship is long, but you have to score points every weekend, and today we did. So yeah, very happy and very good for the team.”

Adapting to the changing track conditions during the F3 Australian GP Feature Race

The F3 Australian GP Feature Race presented unique challenges, with torrential rain creating difficult conditions from the start. Strømsted highlighted the complexities of racing in such weather, noting the visibility issues and the constant need to manage tyre performance.

“At the start, it was quite wet, so I was taking it easy, just finding the grip,” he recalled. “Then just before the Safety Car, it was starting to dry up, so there was coming more and more grip.”

The street track’s characteristics added another layer of complexity, with Strømsted admitting it was “something new” for him.

Strømsted’s race strategy was refreshingly straightforward. When asked by Pit Debrief about his approach to the wet conditions, he candidly admitted, “No, not really, especially not to crash with Rafa [Câmara],” before adding his primary goal was simply “to finish the race and get some points.”

The intense rainfall created significant challenges for the drivers. Strømsted noted the visibility issues, explaining that while there were some differences with the new car, the experience was “quite similar” – just with “more downforce” and “more water getting sprayed”.

Strong Start for Trident

Trident showed solid pace throughout the weekend, which gave Strømsted confidence in the team’s development over the winter.

Yeah, for sure, it’s been a good weekend, and all the work they did over the winter was very good. The car has been amazing the whole week and also in the wet now, we’ll try to keep pushing and find some new things in Bahrain for testing.”

With momentum on their side, Trident will look to carry this positive result into the next round in Bahrain.
