Round 3 of the 2025 IndyCar season is in the books as Kyle Kirkwood had a perfect weekend at Long Beach, taking pole position and converting it into a win as he led the most laps, view the full championship standings below. Following that victory, Kirkwood moves up from P5 to P2 in the championship.
Despite losing his 100% win streak and seeing his championship lead cut to 34 points because of a superb performance from Kirkwood, Alex Palou and his consistency continues to be outstanding. 2nd at Long Beach on a circuit where Andretti are historically strong is a big result.
Denmark’s Christian Lundgaard and Sweden’s Felix Rosenqvist continued their fine starts to 2025 with P3 and P4. The Arrow McLaren driver making a decisive pass on his fellow European into turn 1 with just a couple of laps left. They sit in the same spots in the overall championship.
A relatively anonymous race from Scott Dixon saw him end up in 8th, and he is now 56 points adrift of his teammate.
However, the biggest shock is Team Penske. Scott McLaughlin is their lead driver in the championship, but he is a whopping 73 points behind Palou after Long Beach. The Penske trio are a lowly P8, P9 and P10 in the standings, a long way off their usual spots.
Top 10 results for Sting Ray Robb and Kyffin Simpson vaulted them up the standings after two fine drives.
