The 17 full-time drivers, joined by Wild Card entry Farah AlYousef, took to the Jeddah Corniche Circuit for Round 2 of the 2025 F1 Academy season. After two thrilling races in front of AlYousef’s home crowd, Maya Weug seized the championship lead from former teammate Doriane Pin.

Lloyd claims first F1 Academy win in Race 1

Rodin Motorsport’s Ella Lloyd, supported by McLaren, captured her maiden win in Saturday’s Race 1. Starting from pole under reverse-grid conditions, Lloyd showed remarkable composure to beat MP Motorsport and Ferrari Driver Academy’s Maya Weug and Campos Racing’s Alisha Palmowski, supported by Red Bull Racing. As a result, Lloyd moved up to fifth in the championship standings.

Meanwhile, PREMA Racing and Mercedes Junior Team’s Doriane Pin, the championship leader after Round 1, finished fourth. MP Motorsport’s Alba Hurup Larsen secured fifth place, while Aston Martin-supported Tina Hausmann earned her first points of the season with a P6 finish. Consequently, Hausmann rose to ninth in the standings, just ahead of teammate Nina Gademan, who finished eighth to climb to 10th.

Weug wins Race 2 after Chambers receives penalty

Sunday’s Race 2 delivered further drama. Maya Weug, who crossed the line second, inherited her first win of the season after Campos Racing’s Chloe Chambers received a five-second penalty. Weug now leads the championship by seven points over Pin, who finished third to bring her 2025 total to 52 points.

Despite the penalty, Chambers impressed by dominating from pole and holding off Weug throughout the race. She leaves Jeddah with 21 points, including two points for pole position and one for the fastest lap.

Larsen reclaimed fifth in the standings with a solid P5 finish, raising her tally to 28 points. Race 1 winner Lloyd finished eighth in Race 2 and dropped to sixth overall. Further down, Hausmann’s sixth-place finish pushed her to seventh in the standings, one point ahead of Rodin Motorsport’s Emma Felbermayr, supported by Sauber. Additionally, Chloe Chong earned her first point of the season after a strong drive.
