Fans offered a refund after cancellation of Imola race, Ferrari donate to help flood victims

Heavy rain and flooding in the Italian region of Emilia-Romagna saw 37 cities hit with landslides and severe flooding. Imola, home of the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, and Faenza, home to AlphaTauri, were also severely affected with many people being evacuated from their homes.

The Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari paddock was completely flooded and talks between the FIA and the Automobile Club of Italy concluded with the decision to postpone this years Grand Prix due to safety reasons.

With no viable solution to replace the event in such a short time, the Automobile Club of Italy has announced that fans who purchased tickets would have two options. Fans could convert their current tickets with tickets for next year’s event or could apply for a refund.

“All buyers who have purchased tickets through the sales network and the ticketone.it purchasing platform are informed that the opportunity to convert the tickets purchased with tickets for the 2024 event or alternatively the economic reimbursement.

“Given the ongoing emergency in the region, the methods and timing of the refund will be announced with a subsequent communication that will be sent by e-mail in the next few days by ACI Sport.”

In an act of kindness, Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna today announced that Ferrari has donated 1 million euros to the Emilia-Romagna Region’s Agency for Territorial Safety and Civil Protection, joining the regional fundraising campaign.

A statement released on Ferrari’s official website was accompanied by a few words from Benedetto Vigna.

“In times of difficulty, Ferrari has always stood by its community. We wanted to provide a concrete and immediate response to the most urgent needs of the population of Emilia-Romagna, which has been tried by a serious environmental disaster.

“With the coordination of the local authorities, to whom our heartfelt thanks go for their tireless work, this aid will bring comfort and a tangible sign of the solidarity of the entire Ferrari family.”
