Mick Schumacher has found himself at a crossroads in his Formula 1 career. With doors closing in the pinnacle of motorsports following his departure from Haas at the end of last year, the German is now contemplating his Plan B. Toto Wolff, speaking after the Singapore GP, gives insight into current situation.
“Mick has a place here as the reserve driver and is part of the family,” said Wolff, emphasising Mick Schumacher’s deep-rooted affiliation with Mercedes, portraying him not just as a reserve driver but as an integral part of the Mercedes family. “We hope that he stays with us in the role. We will give him time in the car.”
Despite Schumacher’s current absence from the race grid, Mercedes remains committed to his development. Wolff hinted at the possibility of him getting more time behind the wheel of a Mercedes car, nurturing his skills and experience.

According to the team principal, if an opportunity arises with another manufacturer in WEC, Mercedes is open to allowing him to explore it while keeping the reserve driver role with Mercedes as a potential fallback.
“If he can get a works seat with another manufacturer in WEC, in sportscars or wherever, we will always have that home for him.
“Whatever program he does besides (ours), he can stay with us as a reserve driver if it is possible from the other side,” confirmed Wolff.
Rumours have circulated around the paddock during the Singapore Grand Prix weekend, suggesting an alternative route for Schumacher’s career. According to sources, the 24-year-old might consider competing in the World Sports Car Championship in 2024, with an offer reportedly on the table from Alpine.
This exciting prospect could see him participating in the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans, a dream for many racing enthusiasts.
