Bahrain will once again hold pre-season testing in 2024 as the teams prepare for the season-opener at the Sakhir venue in just 11 days from now.
The Middle Eastern venue gives valuable dry running for the teams to understand their cars, and testing starts to give an idea of the pecking order heading into the new season.
While we don’t know the fuel loads and engine modes teams run over the course of the three days, clear evidence of who is looking strong usually emerges.
Red Bull’s Sergio Perez set the fastest time last year on a 1:30.305. Teammate Max Verstappen would go on to take pole on the Grand Prix weekend with a 1:29.708 as the Milton Keynes-based squad annexed the front row.
Aston Martin had impressed rivals during testing and they backed it up as Fernando Alonso finished a stunning P3 behind the two Red Bulls in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.
However, Williams did surprise. They expected to be the slowest team in Bahrain following testing but P15 in qualifying and P10 in the Grand Prix itself thanks to Alex Albon showed the team made progress. They would ultimately finish P7 in the Constructors’ Championship.
Testing kicks off on Wednesday and concludes on Friday. It starts at 10am local time, with the action ending at 19:00 each day.
Below you can find the confirmed line-ups given by the teams so far.
On Tuesday, Williams held their filming day at the Bahrain International Circuit as the FW46 took to the track for the first time in the hands of Logan Sargeant.
Pirelli also revealed the tyre selection the teams have made for the test. All of them get 39 sets of tyres for the three days.
With the C3 the softest tyre on the Bahrain GP race weekend and the compound likely to used at almost every event this season, every single team has picked loads of sets to understand it before the 2024 campaign gets underway.
