2025 F1 pre-season testing continued in Bahrain on day 2 as Lewis Hamilton led the way for Scuderia Ferrari as his prepares for his first race in red. Perhaps most intriguingly, however, was the pace of Carlos Sainz. The Spaniard was P3 on the C2 tyre, quicker than Alex Albon’s qualifying time last year on C3s. It suggests Williams Racing have made a good step forward in 2025. How much? Only time will tell in Australia.
Mercedes continues to look solid. George Russell placed P2 in the times, 0.399s slower than his former teammate with both on C3s. They were the only drivers to break the 90s barrier.
Hamilton’s 1:29.379 is 0.6s faster than what Carlos Sainz did on the second day of testing last year. It shows how quickly these cars have developed.
