2025 F1 pre-season testing is in the books at the Sakhir International Circuit in Bahrain.
Williams shine in testing
Carlos Sainz has ended up fastest over the three days as Williams showed very strong pace. While they will not be winning in Australia, the team has made a big step compared to this time last year.
The Spanish driver did his best time on C3s on Day 2, along with the Ferraris of Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc. George Russell clocked the fastest time on the final day by 0.021s from Max Verstappen with a lap inside the last 10 minutes. Their times on Day 3 put them P4 and P5 overall.
Alex Albon completed the top 6. The Thai was P3 on the final day of running as he did his 1:29.650 on the C4 tyres in the closing stages.
Kimi Antonelli, Piastri, Gasly and Stroll rounded out the top 10 overall.
McLaren sandbagging
McLaren did not show their hand throughout most of testing. While Lando Norris was fastest on Day 1, they did not put a representative time on low fuel on Days 2 and 3. While Piastri did show some pace towards the end of the final day with his P3 lap that was 8th overall, there is a lot more speed to come from their 2025 challenger.
Racing Bulls
Racing Bulls had a quiet but productive showing. Hadjar outpaced Tsunoda, although only Melbourne will tell how genuine that is with varying track conditions.
Haas
Haas had been very much the outlier. In the first 2 days it was all focus on race pace. A bit more performance running took place on Friday, with Esteban Ocon managing to get into the 1:30s.
Sauber in trouble
Barring some kind of miracle, Sauber looks to be at the back heading to the Australian GP as the car seemed a long way off the pace on race runs. The relatively low fuel runs looked bad in 2025 F1 season testing in Bahrain, too.
