There has been serious changes to the 2025 F2 championship standings after the Bahrain Sprint following a sensational post-race disqualification for previous leader Joshua Dürksen.

The AIX Racing driver had finished P3 on the road on Saturday. However, he lost the lead in the closing stages to Pepe Marti. Richard Verschoor also found his way by in a thrilling ending.

On Dürksen’s DSQ, an FIA document read: “Having considered the matter extensively, the Stewards determined that the height of the Diffusor Strake 1 of Car 20 was found to be below the required minimum height stipulated in Article 3.4.1.a of the FIA Formula 2 Technical Regulations.

“Specifically, even after the 5mm tolerance defined in Article 3.4.2 is applied, the Diffusor Strake 1 is 2mm below the limit.

“The measurement was conducted by the Technical Delegate using the standard method. The measurement was taken on multiple occasions forverification and the FIA platform was also checked to be in correct set up.

“The team representative accepted the measurement and the condition of the platform when this measurement was taken.”

Dino Beganovic was promoted to P3 in the process, with Goethe, Lindblad, Villagomez, Mini and Fornaroli rounding out the points scores. The drivers in P4, P7 and P8 all pitted under the Safety Car towards the end and benefitted hugely from their fresh tyres.

Richard Verschoor now leads the standings.
