MP Motorsport’s Richard Verschoor claimed the lead of the 2025 F2 Drivers’ Championship after a stunning performance in the Jeddah F2 Round Feature Race on the final day of the Saudi Arabian GP.

The Dutchman, now in his fifth season of F2, used an alternative tyre strategy to claim the race lead. After an impressively quick pitstop on Lap 24, Verschoor emerged from the pit lane ahead of Martins on his super-soft tyres. He used these to charge past DAMS Lucas Oil’s Jak Crawford on the final lap to take victory. Verschoor’s 25 points and an additional point for taking the fastest lap of the race, a 1:45.806 on Lap 27, sees him at the top of the championship standings with 53 points.

Campos Racing’s Josep Maria “Pepe” Martí, who finished Sunday’s F2 Feature Race P5, leaves Jeddah with a total of 41 championship points, while Invicta Racing’s Leonardo Fornaroli is third with 40 points. Rodin Motorsport’s Alex Dunne, who led the championship battle after Saturday’s F2 Sprint Race, leaves Jeddah fourth in the championship. He finished P8 to bring his tally up to 35 points. Meanwhile, Victor Martins improved to sixth after his P3 finish brought his tally to 28, while Luke Browning is fifth with 33 points.

The most significant improvement, however, was that of Jak Crawford, who leaves Jeddah eighth in the standings with 20 points after a slow start to the season. His teammate, Kush Maini, also kicked his 2025 campaign off, claiming his first point of the season with a P10 finish. Maini now sits 16th in the championship standings.
