Round 2 of the 2025 IndyCar series in the books as the Thermal Club Grand Prix has been completed, and you can view the championship standings here.
Alex Palou made it 2 wins from 2 as he passed the McLaren duo of Pato O’Ward and Christian Lundgaard in the final stint using a new set of alternates, with the Mexican and Dane on the primary tyre. The three-time overall champion is in unbelievable form as he’s looking for a fourth title overall and a third successive one.
Nonetheless O’Ward had a great rebound after St. Pete with P2 at Thermal, with Lundgaard a very solid 3rd, bagging his first podium with Arrow McLaren.
Herta also bounced back from the opening round to finish 4th in his Andrett, ahead of Felix Rosenqvist for Meyer Shank Racing.
From 21st on the grid, Will Power was superb P6, making up 15 spots. Armstrong completed a great day for MSR by finishing 7th.
Kirkwood fell to P8 from 4th late in the day, with Rossi and Dixon completing the top 10. The 6-time champion passed Graham Rahal on the final lap for 10th.
Aside from Power, Team Penske had a terrible race, too. Newgarden could only manage a very distant P13, with hybrid issues for Scott McLaughlin seeing him classified in last.
