Alpine Endurance Team has revealed the updated prototypes it will campaign in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) Hypercar category in 2026, signalling the French manufacturer’s intent to build on the strongest season in the A424 programme’s history.
The unveiling took place during a pre-season presentation in Paris, the home of the Alpine brand. With the new campaign approaching, the team arrives encouraged by the progress achieved last year at the highest level of endurance racing.
In 2025, the A424 delivered its most successful campaign yet, highlighted by victory at Fuji during the championship’s landmark 100th race. It further triumphed and secured podium finishes at both Imola and Spa-Francorchamps, underlining its growing competitiveness against the sport’s leading manufacturers. As a result, Alpine now enters the upcoming season with ambitions of adding further silverware to its collection.
Aerodynamic updates for the A424 as Alpine seeks honours in 2026 WEC campaign
To strengthen its challenge, Alpine has introduced aerodynamic refinements to the A424 ahead of the 2026 championship. The upgraded prototype was recently put through an initial test programme at Portimão in Portugal. According to the team, the outing delivered encouraging results as engineers evaluated the car’s revised performance characteristics.
While the overall design remains recognisably Alpine, the refinements are intended to improve efficiency and competitiveness across the diverse circuits on the FIA WEC calendar.
With the Hypercar class becoming increasingly competitive, every development step could prove decisive in the battle for results.
Continuity and experience in the #35 entry with an all-French line-up in #26
For its third consecutive season competing in the Hypercar category, Alpine retains a strong element of continuity within its driver line-up. Charles Milesi and Ferdinand Habsburg, both key figures in the programme since its inception, will once again share driving duties in the #35 entry. The duo played a central role in delivering Alpine’s maiden Hypercar victory at Fuji last September.
Joining them this season will be António Félix da Costa, who returns to the FIA World Endurance Championship after time away from the series. The Portuguese driver, a former Formula E champion, brings valuable experience to the line-up as Alpine targets further success.
In the sister #36 entry, Alpine has opted for a striking all-French driver combination.
Jules Gounon and Frédéric Makowiecki continue with the team following last season’s campaign. Alongside them will be endurance racing newcomer Victor Martins, who steps into the championship after building his reputation in single-seater competition. The addition of Martins introduces fresh talent to the squad while maintaining a strong national identity for the entry.
With an upgraded Hypercar, a balanced driver line-up and growing momentum, Alpine will aim to convert last year’s progress into a consistent challenge at the front of the field.
