The stage was set at London’s The O2 as Aston Martin F1 pulled the covers off to unveil the livery of the AMR25, their challenger for the 2025 Formula 1 season.
With all 10 teams revealing their new liveries at the landmark F1 75 event, it was a night of excitement and anticipation—but for Aston Martin, it was also about making a statement after a difficult 2024 campaign.
Looking back: A season of struggles for Aston Martin
Aston Martin F1 entered 2024 hoping to build on their breakthrough 2023 season, where they emerged as podium regulars. However, the AMR24 failed to match those highs, and the team quickly found themselves on the back foot. Fernando Alonso’s P5 in Saudi Arabia ended up being their best result of the year, a sign of things to come as their form steadily declined.
By the summer break, Aston Martin had racked up 73 points, but their post-break slump saw them add just 21 more, all courtesy of Alonso. Lance Stroll’s season was even tougher—his last points came in July, leaving him point-less for the final 10 races of the season. A distant P5 in the Constructors’ Championship, 374 points behind fourth-placed Mercedes, was far from where they expected to be.
A new chapter begins
But amid the struggles, major moves were happening behind the scenes. The biggest of them all? The signing of legendary designer Adrian Newey, who will join as Managing Technical Partner from March 2025. Alongside him, ex-Ferrari technical chief Enrico Cardile and former Mercedes engine mastermind Andy Cowell are set to play key roles in reshaping Aston Martin’s future.
For the team, the AMR25 is about more than just the Formula 1 season ahead—it’s a crucial stepping stone toward their ultimate goal: becoming a championship contender in 2026 when they join forces with Honda under the new regulations.
What’s next?
With pre-season testing just around the corner, all eyes will be on whether Aston Martin has made the step forward they desperately need. Have they solved the performance drop-off that plagued them last year? Can the AMR25 bring them back into the fight at the front?
After a bruising 2024, Aston Martin is ready to fight back. Now, it’s time to see if the AMR25 can deliver.
