Several teams have brought updates to Silverstone for this weekend’s British Grand Prix as they look to gain performance and make gains, whether it be on Red Bull Racing or the teams around them.
After McLaren and Lando Norris finished a superb P4 at the Austrian Grand Prix last Sunday to claw some points back in the fight for P5 in the Constructors’ Championship, Alpine have come to Silverstone with a new front wing to try and maintain their 18-point cushion.
Nonetheless, McLaren have also brought one to their home race as Norris and Piastri look to both get in the points for the first time since Monaco.
Aston Martin, Mercedes and Williams are the other teams with new front wings for this event.
However, the biggest changes for this weekend have come from two of the teams really struggling for pace in 2023: Alfa Romeo and AlphaTauri. Both squads have given their drivers new floors and diffusers.
Heading into this weekend, Alfa Romeo sit P8 in the Constructors’ Championship. On the basis of the practice pace shown by Williams, that could become P9 on Sunday.
Although AlphaTauri have made a lot of changes to the car, Yuki Tsunoda stated after FP2 when the Japanese driver and De Vries finished P18 and P19 respectively: “So far, we can’t see the results that we are improving massively.
“So far, it’s not looking good. The result is no good so far.
“We feel definitely a couple of gains in some places but some places we didn’t improve that we expected. So, we have to look through it deeply.”
