BMW and Team WRT have unveiled a significantly reshaped LMGT3 driver roster ahead of the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) campaign. While the team enjoyed a competitive 2025 season with four podium finishes, the Belgian outfit has introduced a host of changes for the upcoming year.

Only one driver from last season’s line-up remains. Long-time BMW M works driver Augusto Farfus will continue with the team as he prepares to begin his third consecutive season in the championship with Team WRT.

Farfus anchors the #32 BMW entry for 2026 WEC LMGT3 campaign with Team WRT

Augusto Farfus will anchor the #32 BMW M4 LMGT3 Evo entry once again. However, the Brazilian will compete alongside familiar faces as the team reunites him with Sean Gelael and Darren Leung.

The trio previously enjoyed notable success together. They secured victory at Imola and finished runner-up in class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2024. More recently, Gelael and Leung claimed a win at the Circuit of the Americas in September while racing for United Autosports.

Farfus believes the renewed partnership gives the crew a strong platform heading into the new campaign.

“I’m really looking forward to driving with Sean and Darren again,” Farfus enthused. “We had a lot of success together in 2024. We are now entering our third season in FIA WEC and have substantially more experience than back then. Accordingly, the goal is to be fully competitive and fight for the title.”

Fresh line-up for the #69 Car

Meanwhile, the sister #69 BMW entry will feature an entirely new driver combination. Anthony McIntosh joins the team after departing Racing Spirit of Léman. The young driver impressed many observers when he joined the FIA WEC grid during the second half of the 2025 season.

Team WRT will pair McIntosh with IMSA GTD race winner Parker Thompson and BMW M works driver Dan Harper. The line-up blends emerging talent with growing international experience.

Harper arrives with an impressive résumé despite his young age. The Northern Irish driver captured the overall British GT Championship title two years ago and followed that achievement by winning the GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup Bronze title a year later. Notably, he achieved both successes alongside Darren Leung.

During the 2025 season, Harper also established himself as a regular contender in IMSA’s GTD Pro category. He secured the Michelin Endurance Cup alongside fellow BMW driver Max Hesse.

Rookie test provides early experience

Before confirming the line-ups, BMW gave several of the new drivers a valuable opportunity during the FIA WEC Rookie Test in Bahrain. Harper joined a number of his new team-mates for the session, allowing the team to begin building chemistry ahead of the 2026 season.

Harper now prepares to embark on his first full campaign in the world championship and welcomes the challenge of racing on unfamiliar circuits.

“FIA WEC is a new racing series with new circuits for me,” he acknowledged. “I’m extremely excited to be competing in an official FIA World Championship. The highlight will obviously be Le Mans, and I’m proud to have made it this far to be able to take part in this event.”

“I’ve gained a lot of experience over the past few years, and my first impression of Parker and Anthony is very good. Together with Team WRT, we will certainly have a lot of fun and form a strong team.”

BMW and Team WRT building momentum for 2026 WEC LMGT3 campaign

Ultimately, Team WRT and BMW aim to build on the progress achieved during the 2025 campaign. By combining experienced drivers such as Farfus with emerging talents like Harper, McIntosh and Thompson, the team hopes to challenge consistently at the front of the LMGT3 field.

As the new season approaches, the revised line-ups signal BMW’s clear intent to strengthen its bid for LMGT3 honours in the FIA World Endurance Championship.
