The recently rebranded American-owned team Kiro Race had made its debut on the Formula E grid at the Madrid testing session, and had positively impressed with newly signed driver David Beckmann leading a track outing, and is nor ready to build on the Top 10 finish achieved at the inaugural São Paulo round.

A top 10 for Kiro Race

In fact, the 2024-2025 season started out pretty positively for Kiro Race, with Dan Ticktum achieving a very positive P8 finish in spite of early contact onset with Stoffel Vandoorne and starting from the end of the top ten due to being cut off the knockout zone by only 0.001s.

The driver duo is ready to tackle on the new challenge offered by the upcoming race held at Mexico City.  Former Red Bull junior driver Ticktum is looking forward to returning at the peculiar track, especially due to the fact that he wasn’t completely satisfied with the performance he had put in in the last race, as he said:

“Overall, I think Mexico City is one of the best events of the year from a fan and atmosphere perspective. I always enjoy interacting with and seeing the fans there. There’s great energy all around to be honest, and on the in lap, it’s one of the few places where you can hear the crowd in the stadium which is pretty cool and quite unique.”

“With the track itself, Qualifying is very important – more important than São Paulo – so we need to make sure that we get the car in the window. Overall, I just want to get cracking. I’m very, very excited for the season and I’m looking forward to Mexico,” The British driver concluded.

A retirement on the other side of the garage

Debutant David Beckmann’s inaugural run of Season 11 was not as positive. Starting from the back of the grid, the Porsche-affiliated driver had managed to gain some positions, but unfortunately he made contact with the wall with ten laps to go, breaking his suspension.

Nevertheless, he’s ready to give his all in Mexico, and feeling confident in his own capabilities

I’m really looking forward to Mexico City. The track is very different to what we raced in São Paulo, and obviously, that means we’ll have a different strategy in the race, but I think we have a very strong package to fight with.”

“In general, São Paulo was quite difficult for me, but I had some very positive moments as well, and without the contact, I think we could have been looking at a double points finish. I did the fastest lap at the end of the race, and I think that shows our potential and speed. I feel happy in the team, everyone is working very well together, and operationally, our first weekend was very smooth with the GEN3 Evo.”

The German driver will definitely try to score his first ever Formula E points in his first official outing at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez with his new Gen3Evo:

In Brazil we may not have gotten the points we wanted, but we’ve still got a lot to give. I’m confident we can regain those lost points in Mexico, and I’m excited to get the weekend started.” He concluded.

New look

Kiro Race will also debut a new livery in Mexico, featuring copper inserts as a tie in to title sponsor Cupra, introduced ahead of the inaugural Brazilian round.

Team Principal Alex Hui commented on the announcement, praising the new design:

“Our new livery for Season 11 serves as a powerful statement of CUPRA KIRO’s evolution and reflects the bold and innovative spirit that drives us as a team. CUPRA’s own distinctive copper colour palette complements our own signature florescent yellow to create a design that will be unmissable on track. After a promising debut weekend in São Paulo, we have high aims for this weekend, and I’m excited to see our new livery take the centre stage in Mexico City.”
