The official entry list for the 94th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans has been unveiled, confirming a formidable 62-car field for the iconic endurance race scheduled for 10–14 June 2026 as part of the WEC season.
The evolution of a historic race
As the fourth round of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) season, the race promises another dramatic chapter in motorsport’s most famous endurance contest. Since its inaugural running in 1923, the event has grown into one of the sport’s most prestigious achievements. Today, the race forms one leg of motorsport’s celebrated Triple Crown, alongside the Monaco Grand Prix and the Indianapolis 500. Yet while its legacy is immense, modern Le Mans is no longer purely a test of durability.
Instead, cutting-edge technology and relentless pace have transformed the event into a 24-hour sprint. Recent editions have demonstrated just how intense the competition has become. In both 2024 and 2025, the winning margin was barely more than 14 seconds, and two years ago nine Hypercars finished on the same lap.
In such conditions, even the smallest mistake can prove decisive.
WEC Hypercar giants prepare for battle in the 2026 24 Hours of Le Mans
The headline Hypercar category once again features a stellar line-up of manufacturers determined to claim overall victory at La Sarthe.
Ferrari returns as the benchmark team after its remarkable recent success. Since introducing the 499P in 2023, the Italian marque has remained unbeaten at Le Mans. The factory #50 and #51 entries, along with the independently run #83 AF Corse car, have each contributed to the Prancing Horse’s winning streak.
Consequently, Ferrari arrives in 2026 aiming to secure a fourth consecutive triumph.
Fierce competition throughout Hypercar
However, the competition continues to intensify. Cadillac made headlines last year when it secured pole position for the race — the first time an American manufacturer had achieved the feat in almost sixty years.
The American brand strengthens its presence this year, with the two Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA V-Series.R entries joined by a third car fielded by Cadillac WTR, bringing the Hypercar grid to 18 contenders.
Meanwhile, French manufacturers Peugeot and Alpine will both seek redemption on home soil after difficult outings in 2025. Peugeot’s most recent victory at Le Mans dates back to 2009 with the 908 HDi, while Alpine has not claimed overall honours since 1978.
Toyota also arrives with renewed determination. The Japanese manufacturer dominated the race with five consecutive victories between 2018 and 2022 and has introduced major updates to its rebadged TR010 Hybrid Hypercar in an effort to return to the top step of the podium.
Elsewhere, BMW continues its development of the M Hybrid V8 in its third campaign, while Aston Martin’s Valkyrie has shown encouraging progress.
Adding further intrigue, Hyundai’s premium brand Genesis will make its Le Mans debut following an extensive development programme. The ambitious Korean manufacturer arrives with a star-studded line-up led by two-time world champion and three-time Le Mans winner André Lotterer.
Alongside experienced names, several rising talents will also attract attention. Former FIA Formula 2 champion Théo Pourchaire will race for Peugeot, while fellow French driver Victor Martins prepares for his endurance racing debut with Alpine.
Packed LMGT3 grid promises close racing at 2026 24 Hours of Le Mans
Away from the Hypercar spotlight, the LMGT3 class will once again provide some of the closest racing on the grid.
A total of 25 cars will compete in the category, representing a diverse range of manufacturers. The competitiveness of the class was evident last season when five of the nine brands secured victories during the FIA WEC campaign, while the other four all claimed podium finishes.
At Le Mans itself, the leading four LMGT3 cars crossed the finish line on the same lap.
The 2026 edition will also feature several intriguing additions to the field. Former Williams Formula 1 driver Logan Sargeant will make his Le Mans debut as a rookie in Proton Competition’s Ford Mustang.
Additional entries include third cars from TF Sport with Corvette machinery and Iron Lynx with Mercedes-AMG equipment. The grid will also welcome a Canadian-run Corvette from 13 Autosport and an Aston Martin Vantage entered by Racing Spirit of Léman.
Ferrari will enjoy strong representation as well. Kessel Racing will field two Ferrari 296 GT3 entries, with Lorenzo Patrese, the son of former Formula 1 World Championship runner-up Riccardo Patrese, driving one of them. Richard Mille AF Corse will enter another Ferrari, with official Ferrari driver Lilou Wadoux behind the wheel.
Despite the competition, reigning world champion Manthey remains the team to beat. Its Porsche 911 has set the standard at Le Mans since the LMGT3 category was introduced.
24 Hours of Le Mans LMP2 field blends experience and youth in 2026
Completing the grid is a 19-car LMP2 field packed with both established names and rising stars.
Several drivers familiar to FIA WEC followers will return to the category. Among them are Grégoire Saucy and Mikkel Jensen, the latter already confirmed as a future McLaren Hypercar driver from 2027.
The entry list also includes recently appointed Peugeot test and development driver Alex Quinn and reigning F1 Academy champion Doriane Pin, who also serves as a Mercedes-AMG Formula 1 development driver.
Veteran racer Romain Dumas, a two-time overall Le Mans winner, returns to the race for the first time in three years. Additionally, two competitors carrying famous motorsport surnames will feature in the class: Pietro Fittipaldi and Enzo Trulli.
A new Le Mans story awaits
With 62 cars across three fiercely competitive categories, the 2026 edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans promises another unforgettable spectacle.
Every driver and team will arrive at La Sarthe chasing motorsport immortality. Over 24 relentless hours, strategy, reliability and raw speed will all play decisive roles.
When the chequered flag finally falls in June, a new chapter in the race’s extraordinary history will be written. Thrills, drama and endurance racing greatness are guaranteed.
