Dennis Hauger joined the Formula 2 grid back in 2022 under MP Motorsport after winning the Formula 3 championship in 2021 under Prema Racing. Now after racing for 3 seasons, he has moved on to Indy Nxt. The Norwegian driver is now racing under Andretti Global for 2025 and beyond.
Hauger didn’t complete his last season in Formula 2, instead he left the series with 2 races to go. Richard Verschoor replaced Hauger at MP Motorsport and signed a contract with the team for 2025.
So how was Hauger’s final season in Formula 2?
Season Achievements
Hauger placed 9th in the championships before he left with a total of 85 points under his belt. The former F2 driver had a positive start to the season and was even in contention to win the Championship.
He found himself third in the championship standings with a total of 41 points following his sprint victory in Jeddah after Verschoor was disqualified. That paired with his two other podium finishes in the Saudi Arabia Sprint Race and Monaco Feature Race. Hauger definitely was positive and motivated for the championship crown.
Hauger’s Maiden Pole Position
The 2024 season also brought Hauger his maiden pole position at Albert Park. The then MP Motorsport driver secured pole in a dramatic qualifying session with his final flying lap. Setting a time of 1:28.694s, snatching pole from Prema’s Kimi Antonelli by a mere 0.3s. He went on to place 2nd from 10th on the grid during the Sprint Race. Despite crashing out on his out lap on cold tires during the Feature Race, Australia was Hauger’s best race weekend which left him hungry for more points.
Hauger continued to face misfortunes in the subsequent races, facing 4 DNFs. He did however find himself on the podium once more in Belgium, before his time in Formula 2 came to an end.
Dennis Hauger had a great run in Formula 2 and his finale season gave him his maiden pole position as well as a first, second and third podium placements. His performance in Formula 2 has continuously proved his talent and if it wasn’t for his constant lack of luck he definitely would have placed higher in the standings.
We’re excited for Hauger’s rookie season in Indy Nxt and the results he’ll produce with Andretti Global.
