Taylor Barnard stalled in pit lane as Hitech released Paul Aron right in front of him. There was a number of other questionable releases at the start of qualifying.

Isack Hadjar pumped in a 1:15.828 to lead the way after the first flying lap, 0.2s clear of Paul Aron. Bortoleto, Martins, Hauger, Fittipaldi, Durksen, Marti, Colapinto and Antonelli completed the top 10.

DAMS teammates Correa and Crawford took trips through the gravel at turns 6 and 9 respectively. Luckily for both, they continued.

Unbelievably, Isack Hadjar’s engine failed as he tried to go again, leaving him stranded in the pits for the last 18 minutes.

Halfway through the session, Hadjar led Aron, Hauger, Bortoleto, Martins, Miyata, Marti, Fittipaldi, Durksen and Bearman.Andrea Kimi Antonelli was down in P13.

A 1:15.487 vaulted Dennis Hauger to the top at the start of the second runs, a tenth clear of Durksen. Bortoleto, Colapinto, Aron, Barnard, Hadjar, Marti, Bearman and Maini completed the top 10.

Victor Martins fell to P13, with Crawford and Antonelli just behind him.

At turn 6, Aron had a Correa moment as he ended up in the gravel, but the championship leader also spun across the track and ended up on the grass.

Durksen improved on his second run but missed out on pole by 0.008s.
