It’s already time for qualifying n Hungary for Formula 2! Who will start the Feature race on top, a well-known championship contender like Isack Hadjar or Zane Maloney, after his strong performance earlier this morning, or will it an outsider name, such as first time sprint race winner in Silverstone Andrea Kimi Antonelli?

Crawford signs the first lap of the session in 1:31.921, with Maloney going fastest in 1:30.515s in spite of some steering issues on the lap. Invicta Racing’s Bortoleto is the next to get provisional P1 with a very strong first sector.

Once again in Formula 2, the Prema drivers are struggling, with Bearman in P12 and Antonelli in P16, whereas Correa would be in provisional pole right now.

The first red flag of the session was issued with 19 minutes to go in the session as Josep Maria Marti crashes out at the same spot where he had struggled earlier during practise, at the exit of Turn 9 running straight off at Turn 10.

Many drivers were improving at the time, including Aron, who thus saw their efforts cancelled.

Session resumed three minutes later, but drivers began to return on track with 10 minutes remaining in the session for a fresh series of attempts. A piece of yellow tape got stuck on one of Aron’s wheels.

The first to improve after the break was VAR’s Enzo Fittipaldi signing 1:30.096s, with Antonelli moving up to P3 and Colapinto runs a bit wide at Turn 12.

The championship contenders are the next to pull their weight, with Aron going on top in 1:30.028s and Hadjar slotting in P3.

Last is Crawford at the moment, as an early runner who got caught up in traffic later. The Silverstone podium finisher was unable to move up on this lap as well because he ran wide at the infamous Turn 11, where many drivers have struggled to keep their challengers on track across all championships.

Aron and Maloney were investigated for impeding but no further action will be taken. In the final moments of the session Villagomez moved up to P16, with Verschoor on track, not improving but confirming his Sprint race pole position with a P10.

Pole sitter for the Feature race will be runner up in the standings Paul Aron, ahead of Fittipaldi for the Brazilian’s best starting position and Hadjar. Bortoleto and Martins complete the top 5, with Hauger, Antonelli, Maloney and Maini rounding off the top 9.
