Max Esterson competed in his first full season of Formula 3 in 2024 with Jenzer Motorsport. He finished the season ahead of his teammates despite a difficult F3 season for the driver.

A points debut

Coming into F3 with Jenzer Motorsport there were mixed expectations for Esterson. Jenzer is one of the smaller teams on the F3 grid, being replaced with DAMs for the 2025 season so they often find themselves fighting further back on the grid.

However, in the season opener, Max Esterson didn’t let that stop him when he scored points in the Bahrain sprint race. Esterson had qualified in tenth for the feature race which meant he would be starting in third for the sprint.

The American driver fought hard to keep ahead of some of the much bigger teams behind him and battled right down to the line with Gabriele Minì in the PREMA.

He finished the race in sixth, with Minì still behind collecting five points for his efforts. This start to the season was impressive and showed his defending capabilities.

Point-less stint

Max Esterson spent the majority of the season doing his fighting outside of the points. Jenzer’s aim for the majority of the season was to find themselves within the top 15. Which Esterson managed to do on occasion.

However, he equally spent time off-track entirely with four DNFs across the season. He faced three DNFs in the final four races, with all three being due to collisions on track.

Despite this, he still believed in his capabilities to get himself to the points. In the Belgian feature race, he qualified sixth and managed to maintain his position only losing one place to Luke Browning in the Hitech Pulse-Eight.

This seventh-place finish made Esterson the highest-ranked of the Jenzer drivers in 21st with Zagazeta finishing 25th and Wurz finishing 22nd. This also showed the team his potential when he was in a position to fight.

the 2025 season

After being the highest performing Jenzer Motorsport driver, Max Esterson is wasting no time in making the set-up to Formula 2 with Trident.

He completed the final four races of the F2 season with Trident and managed to find some consistency in his performance. In the last few years, Trident has found itself in a position to win races and make it to the podium and no doubt will want more of that in 2024.

Formula 2 will be Max Esterson’s chance to prove himself with a slew of rookies also joining the F2 grid alongside him.
