It’s time for the final practise session of the weekend. Will race dinner Günther strike again?
Early efforts
Dennis is the first driver to set a lap, with Frijns quickly improving it to 1:27s and Vandoorne in 1:25.502s
Envision is appearing to be focused on the goal today, with Frijns and Buemi faster with 34 minutes to go. It’ll be positive for the Dutch driver who had missed out on a good bit of FP2 and didn’t score in Round 3.
Mueller gets locked up at Turn 13, while Hughes runs wide off track.
Nato leads when there’s 28 minutes left with 1:17.550s, while buemi is the fastest on the full power lap in 1:15.540s.
Mixed emotions for Maserati as while Vandoorne leads in 1:15.840s Hughes stops on track.
With 20 minutes to go yesterday’s podium sitter Barnard leads in low 1:15s from Beckmann and Vandoorne.
McLaren proves to be a force to be reckoned as Bird joins his teammate in P2, 0.229s behind him. Will it be a third podium in four races for the British rookie, or maybe even a first race win?
Late upsets
The most part of the session has gone by, and now drivers are focusing on race simulations, with track conditions drier than expected. It might not last for long, however, as rain might be in the cards for Qualifying.
Nato almost collides with the wall, whereas Barnard lowers the benchmark to 1:15.116s.
Former championship leader Da Costa ran over the kerbs. In the final 10 minutes yesterday’s race winner Günther and São Paulo winner Mitch Evans slid in the podium.
Cassidy continues to struggle, mentioning on the radio that his car doesn’t go. Da Costa suffers as well, but with properly completing the chicanes.
Gunter goes fastest in 1:15.044s. Ultimately, the same podium from yesterday’s race has taken the top 3 spots for today as well, with the German leading from Barnard and Rowland. The Porsche duo completed the top 5.
