This weekend the Formula 1 circus heads to the temple of speed, the majestic Monza, the Italian Grand Prix – the home of Scuderia Ferrari.
The Scuderia will be sporting a special livery on its cars and team wear as a form of celebration of all things Ferrari and its history associated with Monza. It will also have a display of some of its previous racing cars across multiple disciplines as well as trophies and some special guest appearances.
This weekend will also be a celebration of Ferrari’s triumph at Le Mans 24 hour with the Number 51 499P Hypercar driven by James Calado, Antonio Giovinazzi and Alessandro Pier Guidi on display. The Marnello manufacturer claimed an historic result in the world’s most famous endurance race on its return to the top class after half a century.
The livery of the SF-23 this weekend will pay tribute to the Le Mans winning 499P in the form of the yellow “V” stripes that run down the side of the Hypercar, featuring on the nose and engine cover. A splash of yellow will also feature on the driver numbers as well as special once off helmet designs for both drivers.
In the garage and hospitality area of the Ferrari team this weekend there will be many reminders of their illustrious history with illustrations of the Scuderia’s milestones in Formula 1 as well as in other categories where owners have raced their cars.
The winning Le Mans trophy will also feature in the garage along side two of the winning drivers Antonio Giovinazzi and Alessandro Pier Guidi as well as crew members from the winning 51 car. Ferrari will also be joined by Antonio Fuco who in the number 50 car took pole position and set the fastest race lap at Le Mans.
Ferrari will also have three racing cars on display in the fan zone, all from three different categories, emphasising Ferrari’s broader achievements in the wider motorsport circle.
On display will of course be the Le Mans-winning 499P, as well as a 296 GT3 which Maranello’s new weapon for GT racing and finally the F2003-GA that won the Italian Grand Prix at Monza in 2003 in the hands of Michael Schumacher.
With lots of memorabilia available to purchase trackside this weekend in the form of clothing and car models, it really will be a special weekend to be a Ferrari fan. With a disappointing result for the team at the Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort last weekend, Ferrari will be desperate that their on track experience this weekend will be as good as their off track events.
