The 2024 season of Formula 3 came to its end as the championship is settled, but the teams and drivers will get an opportunity to put their learnings into practice even with the competitive campaign over. On October 8th and 9th, the first two post-season tests will kick off in Jerez, Spain.
The field is composed of 12 drivers who drove in Formula 3 during the 2024 season, including some drivers from the top fifteen of the Driver’s Championship overall standings — Tim Tramnitz, Noel Leon, Nikola Tsolov, Laurens van Hoepen or Mari Boya. The remaining 18 drivers are rookies who’ll get their first outings in FIA F3 machinery.
During the testing, there will be two driver swaps. On Day 1, Jesse Carrasquedo will drive for Campos Racing before being replaced by Nikola Tsolov on Day 2 in the #10 car. Instead, Carrasquedo will hop into #20 car with Van Amersfoort Racing on Day 2, replacing Théophile Naël who’ll be there on Day 1.
The time on the Circuito de Jerez will be the penultimate event in which we’ll see the current generation of F3 cars being used. After the second post-season testing on the other side of Spain in Barcelona, it will be the official end of the F3 2019 cars — ahead of the introduction of the F3 2025 machine next season.
The first session begins on Tuesday morning at 09:00 local time (GM +2) and will last three hours, until 12:00. After a break, the afternoon session will go off at 14:00 before ending at 17:00. Wednesday’s morning session will commence at the same time as the previous day, lasting from 09:00 until 12:00. However, the afternoon session will be an hour earlier, starting at 13:00 and ending at 16:00.
Both days, the testing will be available to follow via live timing on the FIA Formula 3 website if you’re interested to see what the teams and drivers learned from this year of racing. Perhaps you want to watch a new talented driver giving it a go.
