Good morning and welcome in London! We’re here live in ExCeL London reporting on the last bits of action in Season 9. Who will be the crowned champion of Formula E this year? Which team will come victorious over others? We’ll know the answers to this questions very soon.

The second free practice session started with with a wet track, and 18C of air temperature and 26C of track temperature – definitely a big change since the last time we were out in Rome. With the green flag most of the drivers went out on track, to test the conditions ahead of the upcoming (possibly nerve wracking) sessions later on. The first driver to set a lap time was Rast, with the time of 1:24.851s. The times on the leaderboard began to tumble down, with each next driver setting a new benchmark. Evans was the first driver to put the time down to 1:17.992s, a big difference between him and Rene Rast.

Cassidy soon climbed the top of the charts, will he be able to take the trophy away from the local hero Dennis? Considering the energy reduction administered by the FIA this weekend, which seems to benefit the likes of Nissan-powered and Jaguar-powered cars, this doesn’t seem like an impossible task. One of the ABT drivers had a short travel outside of the racing line, but was able to rejoin the track safely and continue the session.

Ten minutes of the session down and the Top 10 at that time was: Cassidy, Evans, Bird, Rast, Gunther, Vergne, Dennis, Hughes, Buemi and Ticktum. Roberto Merhi explored a bit the outside of Turn 11, but rejoined the session without issues.

The drivers didn’t need a lot of time in order to get the times even lower – with Rene Rast putting in a 1:14.572s and the Top 4 staying within minimal margins from each other. Soon enough Vandoorne, Fenestraz, Muller and Wehrlein decided to join the pack in the front. Buemi, Dennis, Cassidy and Ticktum went below 1:14, once again staying very close to each other in terms of the lap times. Both of the Envision cars seemed strong in this practice session, and so did the Jaguars.

With ten minutes left of the session, the Top 10 was: Evans, Buemi, Ticktum, Dennis, Rast, Frijns, Cassidy, Sette Camara, Da Costa and Di Grassi.

Last moment of the session were red flagged – trouble for ABT and Frijns after he looses it in the hairpin and puts his car into the wall.

After this half an hour, it’s the second man in the championship standings who puts himself in P1, followed by NIO333 driver Dan Ticktum and Sebastien Buemi in P3.
