Greystone GT has confirmed its first driver pairing for the 2026 International GT Open Championship, announcing Zak Meakin and Dean Macdonald as the crew of one of its McLaren 720S GT3 cars.
The British team, led by Tim Mullen, will once again represent McLaren in the championship. Greystone GT plans to enter two McLaren 720S GT3 cars for the full season and hopes to add a third entry for selected rounds if conditions allow.
Over the past seasons, the team has established itself as one of the key McLaren representatives in the GT Open paddock. Its continued commitment to the British manufacturer ensures that McLaren machinery will remain strongly represented on the grid in 2026.
Promising young talent Meakin joins the team as Macdonald brings experience to 2026 International GT Open campaign with Greystone GT
Nineteen-year-old Zak Meakin will join Greystone GT for the upcoming season after competing with Optimum Motorsport last year. During that campaign, the British-Ukrainian driver secured three podium finishes, demonstrating both speed and consistency in GT competition.
Meakin’s career has continued to gain momentum, and he recently earned selection as a McLaren GT Junior Driver. The programme aims to develop promising young racers within McLaren’s global GT racing structure, providing support and opportunities at higher levels of competition.
His move to Greystone GT represents another important step in his progression as he prepares to compete in the highly competitive Pro class of the International GT Open.
Meakin will share driving duties with Scottish driver Dean Macdonald, one of McLaren’s factory GT drivers. Macdonald already has extensive experience in the International GT Open and a proven track record with Greystone GT.
The 25-year-old has secured three race victories in the championship, all achieved while driving for the British squad. His familiarity with the team, the car and the series provides an important advantage as the team prepares for the new season.
Macdonald’s experience will also help guide the young Meakin as he adapts to racing with Greystone GT and competing in a full Pro class campaign.
Competitive Pro Class entry
The combination of Meakin’s emerging talent and Macdonald’s experience creates a strong driver pairing for the team’s first confirmed entry. In the fiercely contested Pro class, where professional drivers compete head-to-head, such balance is often key to achieving consistent results.
Greystone GT expects the line-up to be highly competitive throughout the season, particularly given Macdonald’s proven pace in the series and Meakin’s growing reputation within McLaren’s driver development structure.
With additional driver announcements expected soon and the possibility of a third McLaren entry for selected rounds, Greystone GT looks set to remain a major presence on the 2026 International GT Open grid.
