The Formula 1 community is grappling with a major upheaval within Red Bull Racing, the team of the world champion Max Verstappen. Allegations of inappropriate behavior have been levelled against the team’s principal, Christian Horner, sending shockwaves through the racing world.
Multiple sources have confirmed to De Telegraaf that accusations of inappropriate behavior have been directed at Christian Horner, particularly concerning a specific team member within Red Bull Racing. Oliver Mintzlaff, the prominent figure at the energy drinks giant, is aware of the situation and is taking the allegations seriously.
Responding to inquiries, a spokesperson for Red Bull stated, “After being made aware of certain recent allegations, the company launched an independent investigation. This process, which is already underway, is being carried out by an external specialist barrister. The company takes these matters extremely seriously and the investigation will be completed as soon as practically possible. It would not be appropriate to comment further at this time.”
In response to the allegations and the ongoing investigation, Christian Horner said, “I completely deny these claims”.
This comes from a man who has been at the helm of Red Bull Racing since its inception in 2005, making him the longest-serving team principal in the sport.
Christian Horner has been instrumental in Red Bull Racing’s success, with Sebastian Vettel winning four consecutive world championships and Max Verstappen emerging as the team’s current star, securing three titles in a row. As the Formula 1 community eagerly awaits the upcoming season and the unveiling of Red Bull Racing’s new car, the RB20, on February 15, this controversy adds an unexpected layer to the narrative.
According to multiple outlets, a hearing will take place on Friday as Horner’s future at the Milton Keynes-based team remains very much up in the air at present.
