Aston Martin confirmed that Canadian driver, Lance Stroll, will continue racing with the Formula 1 team into the 2026 season. Stroll discussed his renewed commitment to the team and the promising future ahead.

When asked about the new deal, Stroll reflected on the uncertainties inherent in Formula 1 careers.

“Year to year, you know, things change in life and you don’t know what’s going to happen next.

“But yeah, like I said, the project is very exciting, the future is very exciting in Silverstone. And yeah, to be a part of it is very exciting.”

Stroll highlighted several key factors contributing to his enthusiasm about Aston Martin’s future. “The new wind tunnel, the expanding campus in Silverstone, and the incredible talent joining the team every day are all exciting,” he explained.

“Five years ago, we had 450 people, and now we’re nearly at a thousand. With a new factory and wind tunnel, all these pieces are coming together.”

Looking ahead to 2026, when new regulations will be implemented, Stroll is optimistic about the team’s potential. “The wind tunnel will be ready in a few months, and 2026 is a big opportunity for all the teams with a completely new set of regulations. It’s an exciting opportunity for teams to try and come up with something special,” he said.

Despite the current challenges, Stroll believes Aston Martin is not far from competing with top teams like Red Bull, Ferrari, and Mercedes. “I don’t think we’re missing much in terms of facilities.

“It’s a matter of growing as a team. This set of regulations makes it tricky to win races right now, but 2026 will be a fresh sheet of paper and a huge opportunity for us,” he stated.

Stroll also addressed the team’s short-term performance. “We’re definitely in a tough place right now. But, like I said, before Barcelona, I think we all knew that was going to be a really difficult weekend for us. And this one as well, and Silverstone as well.

“In Canada, we finished 6th and 7th, which suited the nature of our car. We have some upgrades in the pipeline to help with our issues, and it’s about putting them on the car as quickly as possible and chipping away.” he said.

The possibility of Adrian Newey joining Aston Martin was also discussed. Stroll expressed excitement about the prospect of having such a highly regarded figure on the team.

“It would be pretty f***ing awesome.

“He’s the GOAT and has more championships than anyone in this paddock. Everyone would love to have him in their team colours,” Stroll said. He added that Aston Martin’s growing facilities and ambitious goals make it an attractive option for top talent.

Stroll also acknowledged his father’s significant role in the team’s growth as they attempt to fight for World Champioship titles in the coming years.

“He’s got the vision and the passion, and he wants to be up at the front. That’s what he’s given everyone at Silverstone, is an opportunity to do that, and tools to do that.

“Lawrence is putting his heart and passion and ambition into the project. He’s given everyone at Silverstone all the tools to bring something special to the racetrack,”

he remarked.
