Santino Ferrucci kicked things off in the Fast 6 and had a couple of very close shaves during his run at turns 1 and 4 respectively. His average was 232.692mph. 233.211mph, 232.819mph, 232.425mph, 232.314mph was the speed on his four laps.

Kyle Larson was up next. His average was 232.846mph to beat Ferrucci. 233.383mph, 232.903mph, 232.669mph, 232.433mph was the speed on his four laps.

Larson’s Arrow McLaren teammate Alexander Rossi was third out and had moments at turn 1 on laps 2 and 3 as they trimmed the car out. His average was 233.090mph. 234.062, 233.335mph, 232.651mph, 232.319mph was the speed on his four laps.

Defending 500 champion Josef Newgarden was up next and put himself on top by a distance. His average was 233.808mph. 234.188mph, 234.004mph, 233.640mph, 233.400mph was the speed on his four laps.

Will Power was the penultimate car to run. His average was 233.917mph to beat teammate Newgarden after two mega laps on 3 and 4. 234.128mph, 233.955mph, 233.767mph, 233.819mph was the speed on his four laps.

Scott McLaughlin was the final car to go and he did an absolutely extraordinary 4-lap run. His average was 234.220mph to take his first Indy 500 pole. 234.526mph, 234.371mph, 234.168mph, 233.816mph was the speed on his four laps.

The Kiwi’s average is the fastest ever in qualifying for the 500. Power, Newgarden, Rossi, Larson and Ferrucci was the order behind him.
