23-year-old Jacob Abel has earned a promotion to the IndyCar series, and he will be piloting a Dale Coyne Racing machine.

The former Abel Motorsport driver finished 2nd to a dominant Louis Foster in the NXT series last year, the feeder category for IndyCar.

The Kentucky native spent three seasons there, improving his position as time went on. After P8 in 2022, he finished 5th in 2023. That became 2nd in 2024.

He took three wins last year, including two at the first three rounds to lead the championship early doors.

However, Foster quickly took complete control and dominated in the end, finishing 122 points clear of Abel. The Brit will be driving for RLL in 2025, meaning Abel will face him once again following his signature for Dale Coyne Racing.

“It’s a lifelong dream come true… I can’t thank everyone who’s helped out along the way enough.

“I’ve had a great relationship with Dale for the last couple of years, and I’m very thankful for the confidence he has in me.

“The team has some very experienced personnel joining and returning to the program, and I have full confidence they will deliver a great race car and help me learn the ropes of the NTT IndyCar Series.

“It’s going to be a fun but challenging journey, and I can’t wait to get started.”
