The 2026 DTM season will see a new face on the grid, as Bastian Buus steps up to the prestigious series with Land-Motorsport, piloting a further-developed Porsche 911 GT3 R. This is the same car that helped the Stuttgart-based manufacturer clinch titles in 2023 and 2025. For Land-Motorsport, this marks a strategic return to Porsche machinery, a brand deeply rooted in the team’s history.
A childhood dream realised as Buus steps up to DTM in 2026 with Land-Motorsport
Buus, only 22, has already impressed on multiple stages of GT racing, including his dominant 2023 Porsche Supercup campaign. Yet stepping into DTM represents a new challenge — one he has dreamed about since childhood.
“There is huge anticipation ahead of my first season in the DTM. The DTM has been a big goal of mine for many years,” Buus said. “I am all about action-packed motorsport with overtaking manoeuvres and door-to-door battles.”
Buus’s passion for DTM began long before he ever considered a professional racing career. As a boy, he attended races with his father, Morten, absorbing the sights, sounds, and adrenaline of German touring car racing. One visit left an indelible mark: meeting Tom Kristensen.
“I still remember well how Tom Kristensen showed me his steering wheel and his team’s garage,” Buus recalled. “Back then, neither my father nor I ever thought that I would one day be driving in the DTM myself.”
That early inspiration would fuel years of hard work, determination, and strategic career moves — from karting success in Denmark to victories in GT4 and Porsche series across Europe. By 2023, Buus had claimed the Porsche Supercup championship, a milestone that signaled he was ready to compete at the highest levels of GT and touring car racing.
Eying the next step after proving himself through the Porsche pyramid
Buus’s career trajectory demonstrates a carefully plotted rise through the ranks. After early karting achievements — including second in the 2015 Danish Championship and winning the 2017 Danish Karting League OKJ class — he transitioned to car racing in 2018, competing in the Aquila Synergy Cup. There, he won nine of 15 races and achieved 14 podiums, finishing second overall.
The move into GT racing followed naturally. In 2020, Buus clinched the GT4 European Series Pro-Am title with Allied Racing, showcasing his ability to outperform former single-seater drivers and take command of high-pressure races. Subsequent campaigns in Porsche Carrera Cup Germany, France, and the Supercup cemented his reputation as a driver capable of winning consistently against experienced competition.
However, Despite his rapid rise, Buus approaches his DTM debut with a measured mindset. “I always have high expectations and am not just there to make up the numbers, but to challenge for top results,” he explained. “As a newcomer, you obviously cannot expect to be right out in front from the word go. However, I will do my best.”
Buus is especially eager to prove himself on the street circuits, with the iconic Norising being a challenge that he is looking forward to.
“Street races are always spectacular. The Norisring will be a new experience for me, and one that I really want to enjoy. It’s a track where precision meets bravery, and I love that challenge.”
Land-Motorsport puts faith in Buus ahead of 2026 DTM campaign
Christian Land, team principal of Land-Motorsport, is equally confident in his new signing.
“Bastian Buus has absolutely earned his place in the DTM. For his age, he is already very battle-hardened and has a wealth of knowledge and experience with the Porsche, which will really help us, particularly at the start of the season,” he affirmed.
The move also represents a return to heritage for the team. “We have an association with Porsche that stretches back decades. Over 30 years ago, my father Wolfgang started in the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland. That series was an important platform for our team for many years. We have also enjoyed many victories on the Nordschleife with Porsche. We now want to continue this successful association in the DTM, and to continue where we left off with Audi in 2025,” Land added.
With Land-Motorsport, a returning Porsche 911 GT3 R, and a wealth of GT experience behind him, Buus is poised to turn youthful ambition into tangible results on one of Europe’s most competitive racing stages.
