Mercedes F1 announces Doriane Pin for 2024 F1 Academy season with Prema Racing

Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team welcomes Doriane Pin, the rising French racing sensation, to its Junior Programme for the upcoming 2024 season. Pin, a 20-year-old Parisian, also secured her spot in the highly competitive F1 Academy, an all-female racing series, with the backing of Mercedes in Prema Racing team.

Doriane Pin, a prodigious talent, has consistently demonstrated her prowess, making waves in the world of motorsports. Having risen through the ranks of endurance racing, Pin has established herself as a prominent figure, notably as a member of the groundbreaking Iron Dames project, dedicated to advancing women in motorsport.

Expressing her excitement, Pin said, “I am incredibly happy to join the Mercedes Junior Programme and to represent the team in F1 Academy this year with Prema Racing.”

“A new chapter begins, and I am proud to make this next step in such a prestigious team and with the Iron Dames project. I am working very hard to reach the top level of this sport and I cannot wait to go racing.”

Pin went on to articulate her ambitious vision for the future, stating, “Moving into single-seaters was a clear objective for my career, and to be in this environment is a great approach. I am working very hard to reach the top level of this sport and I cannot wait to go racing.”

After clinching the 2019 French Championship, Pin’s journey soared, supported by the Iron Dames. Her 2022 breakthrough year saw her become the Ferrari Challenge Europe champion, claiming victory at renowned events like the 24 Hours of Spa and the European Le Mans Series season-finale.

Notably, she secured her place in the FIA World Endurance Championship in 2023, achieving podium success and earning the coveted ‘Revelation of the Year’ Award, which makes her the first women to ever get the award.

Toto Wolff, Team Principal of Mercedes F1 Team, remarked, “We now look forward to working in conjunction with Iron Dames, Prema Racing, and F1 Academy, to support Doriane as she takes the next step in her career.”

“Doriane is an exciting talent, and we’re pleased to begin our participation in F1 Academy with her as our chosen driver,” expressed Wolff, while highlighting that, “We have kept a close eye on her development in recent years as she has consistently impressed. The fantastic support of Deborah Mayer and the Iron Dames organization has enabled her to display her abilities to this point; she has taken full advantage of that opportunity with determination and skill.”

Gwen Lagrue, Driver Development Advisor for Mercedes F1 Team, further expressed the confidence they have in Pin’s potential, stating, “She is an incredibly exciting talent; her results in endurance racing highlight the promise she has and her first few races in single-seaters have been extremely encouraging.”

“We are looking forward to working with her this year and not only helping her growth as a driver, but competing at the sharp end in F1 Academy. We fully believe she is capable of fighting for the title this year and going on to further success in the single-seater pyramid.”

Heading into its second season, F1 Academy is dedicated to developing and preparing female drivers for higher levels of competition. The 2024 campaign kicks off in Saudi Arabia on March 7th, creating an anticipatory buzz for motorsports enthusiasts worldwide.
