Mexican driver Noel León heads into his second F3 season in 2025. The 20-year-old was impressive last year, finishing P10 in the standings. He has made the move across from Van Amersfoort Racing to PREMA over the winter. His teammates will both be rookies, Ugo Ugochukwu and Brando Badoer.

León secured four podiums in 2024, three of them coming in Sprints. His Feature race appearance was in Hungary when he finished P2 to Tsolov. The Mexican comprehensively outperformed his teammates Sophia Floersch and Tommy Smith, with both now racing in Indy NXT.

High expectations to fight for the championship

Throughout recent years, many drivers have been able to contend for a title while driving for PREMA. The team’s record and history in F2 and F3 is outstanding. Their most recent F3 title came with Dennis Hauger back in 2021, with Oliver Bearman, Zak O’Sullivan, Paul Aron and Gabriele Mini also going very close to the championship over the last three seasons.

Asked by Pit Debrief whether the goals set by a driver are higher because of the team they are driving for, Noel León says the aim is to fight for the title in the 2025 F3 season.

“Yeah, for me, it’s a great opportunity to be part of Prema family. We’ve been working super well during this off-season and in the pre-season test.

“So yeah, feeling confident for the season and we will do our best to fight for [the] World Championship.”

A future in one of the F1 team academies?

León’s PREMA teammates Ugo Ugochukwu and Brando Badoer are both part of the McLaren Racing academy heading into 2025.

Put to León if he was considered by any teams to be part of their academy when you factor in his impressive 2024 F3 season, the young Mexican says his complete focus is on racing.

“To be honest, I don’t take part in that topic, take my mind in that topic. I don’t know much about it.

“I just know that I need to do a good season and fight for the championship. The rest, my managers take care.”
