Highly rated Ferrari junior Oliver Bearman will get an opportunity to showcase his skills in a 2023 Formula 1 car as the 18-year-old Brit is set to drive in FP1 at Mexico and Abu Dhabi for Haas F1 Team.

He missed out on the Formula 3 title last year by just 7 points as Alpine junior Victor Martins was ultimately victorious in an extraordinarily close season between multiple drivers.

In his maiden Formula 2 campaign in 2023, Bearman has mixed the absolutely brilliant with some costly mistakes. The British driver won both races in Baku, and he’s also won the feature races in Spain and Monza. However, some costly mistakes and crashes leaves him P6 in the standings ahead of the final round in Abu Dhabi at the end of November.

Bearman is not the first Ferrari-backed driver to get a run with Haas in either practice or a full-time seat. Charles Leclerc, Antonio Giovinazzi, Robert Shwartzman, Mick Schumacher all have had the same.

Guenther Steiner

“We’re very happy to offer Oliver Bearman these outings in Mexico and Abu Dhabi. He’s had a stellar rookie season in Formula 2, four wins is testament to that, and as part of the Ferrari Driver Academy – we know his background preparation coming into these weekends will be first-rate. We look forward to welcoming Oliver into the team and have him drive the VF-23.”

“I am so happy to be joining MoneyGram Haas F1 Team driving in Mexico and Abu Dhabi. Getting to Formula 1 has been my dream since I was go-karting so to be driving a car for the first time this year is really special. I’m grateful to the team, and of course Ferrari, for allowing me this chance. I’m working hard to make sure I’m ready to support the team as best I can on both occasions.”
