Team Peugeot TotalEnergies has unveiled a striking new look for its Peugeot 9X8 Hypercar ahead of the 2026 campaign in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC). The updated design marks the start of a new chapter for the French manufacturer, which hopes to build on the encouraging momentum it generated towards the end of last season.
Strong 2025 finish fuels optimism
Peugeot ended the 2025 campaign on a positive note after several competitive performances across the latter rounds of the championship.
The team showed promising pace in São Paulo before securing a podium finish at the Circuit of the Americas. Soon afterwards, the squad came close to victory during the championship’s milestone 100th race at Fuji Speedway.
On that occasion, the #93 Peugeot crossed the finish line in second place, finishing less than eight seconds behind the winner. Consequently, expectations remain high within the team’s base in Versailles as preparations continue for the new season.
Peugeot reveals GTi-inspired 9X8 livery for 2026 WEC season
Peugeot has introduced a completely new colour scheme for the 9X8, developed jointly by Peugeot Design and Peugeot Sport.
The livery features a dynamic interpretation of the brand’s signature three-claw motif. Gradient streaks across the bodywork represent speed and constant motion, while also symbolising the continuous stream of data analysed throughout a modern endurance race. Notably, the previous green-and-white colour scheme has disappeared. Instead, the car now carries white, black and red – colours closely associated with Peugeot’s GTi legacy.
The design pays tribute to the iconic Peugeot 205 GTi, which first appeared in 1984 and became one of the company’s most celebrated performance cars.
According to Peugeot leadership, the updated visual identity reflects both the brand’s past and its technological ambitions. Alain Favey, CEO of Peugeot, explained that the design celebrates the legacy of the GTi badge while highlighting the cutting-edge engineering behind the Hypercar programme. He described the livery as a fusion of heritage and innovation that mirrors the connection between the company’s road cars and its motorsport projects.
“The new livery of the 9X8 perfectly illustrates the brand’s ambition to perpetuate the legend of the Peugeot GTi,” commented Peugeot CEO, Alain Favey. “An elegant fusion of unique heritage and cutting-edge technological excellence, it expresses the synergy between the team’s performances on the track and on the road.”
The cars received their official unveiling at the prestigious Atelier Vendôme in central Paris.
New season, new driver line-ups
Peugeot will field two cars in the Hypercar category once again in 2026. The #93 9X8 will feature Paul di Resta, Stoffel Vandoorne and Hypercar newcomer Nick Cassidy.
Meanwhile, the #94 entry will be driven by Loïc Duval and Malthe Jakobsen alongside rising French talent Théo Pourchaire. Pourchaire already impressed during his championship debut when he briefly led the race in Bahrain last November.
Team Principal Emmanuel Esnault emphasised that unveiling the new livery represents an important milestone ahead of the upcoming season.
“Unveiling a new livery is always a key moment. It symbolises the start of a new season and a new dynamic driven by renewed ambitions, while remaining firmly rooted in Peugeot’s heritage and identity.
“This livery fully embodies the spirit of the project and the close link between competition and the brand. We are looking forward to seeing it come to life on-track in Qatar, during the opening round of the championship.”
The 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship will begin with the Qatar 1812km at the Lusail International Circuit from 26–28 March. After that, the calendar continues with rounds at Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola, Circuit de Spa‑Francorchamps, the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans, Interlagos, Circuit of the Americas and Fuji before concluding in Bahrain on 7 November.
With a refreshed design, revised driver line-ups and growing momentum, Peugeot now hopes the new-look 9X8 will transform its recent progress into race-winning results in the season ahead.
