Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing (RLL) have announced that Jay Frye is becoming the president of their IndyCar and IMSA organisations.

Last month Frye departed his role as IndyCar president following just over 6 years in the job. Under his tenure the lifesaving aeroscreen was introduced, along with the hybrids in 2024. In total he spent 10 years with the series across various positions.

“Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing has a tremendous history of success, both on and off the track.

“I am very proud to be joining the dedicated and talented team of people at RLL. RLL has the foundation, infrastructure and an incredible commitment to continue being successful well into the future.”

Steve Eriksen leaves the team as Chief Operating Officer

Frye’s arrival has also seen someone heading for the departure lounge at Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing. Steve Eriksen has left his role as COO. He joined the team in 2023.

After three decades at Honda, Eriksen moved to Chip Gansssi Racing in early 2021 as he worked with them in IMSA. Following his departure from the role in 2022, he moved over to IndyCar with RLL.

During his time at the team, they won a single race with Christian Lundgaard victorious at Toronto in 2023.

“First, I would like to thank Steve Eriksen for all of the work he did for us, particularly at a critical moment in time for the company and we certainly wish him the best in his next endeavor.

“I’m very pleased to have Jay Frye join the team as president of Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing. I’ve known him since his arrival on the INDYCAR scene in 2013 and have spent a lot of time with him and think highly of his character and his passion for the sport. I look forward to working with him in the future to take RLL to the place we all want it to be.”
