Sergio Sette Câmara will make a Formula E race return, stepping in for Norman Nato at Nissan during the Berlin double-header, as the French driver prioritises his WEC commitment with Cadillac Racing at the São Paulo 6 Hours.
Sergio Sette Câmara is expected to make his return to Formula E, stepping in for Norman Nato at Nissan during the Berlin double-header event in July. This opportunity arises due to a scheduling conflict with the World Endurance Championship (WEC) round at Interlagos, where Nato is already committed to racing for Cadillac.
First reported by Motorsport Week, Sette Câmara’s involvement comes shortly after being confirmed as Nissan’s reserve and development driver last week. His appointment followed his replacement at the CUPRA KIRO team, which now uses Porsche powertrains, by Porsche-affiliated driver David Beckmann. Despite this setback, the Brazilian has remained active in Formula E as a reserve for Nissan throughout the 2024 season.
Nato, who returned to Nissan alongside Oliver Rowland this season, has a prior contract with Jota’s Cadillac Racing squad for WEC. This arrangement forces Nato to prioritise the 6 Hours of São Paulo, leading Nissan to bring in Sette Câmara for the Berlin races, which serve as the penultimate event of the Formula E season.
The decision to recruit Sette Câmara was likely influenced by the team’s experience in Portland last season when Caio Collet admirably stepped in for an unwell Rowland without prior simulator preparation. With championship ambitions in play, Nissan has expressed confidence that Sette Câmara’s experience will make him a dependable choice for the Berlin outing.
This return marks a key moment for Sette Câmara, whose recent signing with Nissan ensures his continued involvement in competitive motorsport after a tumultuous off season.
