After two disappointing F2 seasons with Trident, the latter of which he did not complete, Roman Staněk compete in his third season of the FIA Formula 2 with Invicta Racing. While speaking with the media, including Pit Debrief, the Czech driver discussed his transition to Invicta Racing and identified his goals for the new season.
Relationship with Invicta Racing off to a good start
After three years with Trident, Staněk admitted that he had been “a bit scared” about the differences between the Italian mentality of his former team and English mentality that he expected at his new team. Despite this nervousness, however, Staněk believes that his relationship with Invicta Racing got off to a good start in the post-season tests in Bahrain.
“Yeah, so the relationship started very well already in the postseason test in Abu Dhabi, where to be honest, I was a bit scared about the English mentality because I’m not really used to it.”
He explained that he “got along very will” with the various members of the team and described the environment at Invicta Racing as “very nice.” He added that everyone at the team was working to maximise their results together, creating a positive environment.
“But then I got along very well with everyone in the team, with the mechanics, with the engineers.”
“And the energy you feel in the team is very nice because you feel that they, like all of us, we are going up together.”
“We are pushing towards our goal, which is for everyone to win. So yeah, feeling very good.”
When responding to a question from Pit Debrief, the Czech driver added that the team had been “super welcoming” from the onset and said that he was looking forward to his journey with Invicta Racing.
“The team was super welcoming already when we did the first seat fit before the Abu Dhabi test.”
“Mechanics are very professional, very funny, and I can’t wait for the season to start because I think it’s going to be… I’m going to enjoy it a lot and I’m looking forward to this journey.”
Staněk hoping to maximise “good chance” with “winning team”
As he enters his third F2 season with his new team, Invicta Racing, Staněk hopes to maximise his performance in the 2025 championship fight. He explained, “I have a very good chance. Finally, I have a good chance with a good team, with a winning car.”
The Czech driver added that his performance in the pre-season tests in Barcelona had proved that he could perform well. He explained that he now had the duty to “out everything together” with the help of his team.
“And as we saw in the test, I can also perform well. So just to put everything together. And I think if I will be able to put everything together, the team will help me a bit. It will be good.”
