With 48:55 minutes to go in Monday’s Practice session for the 107th Running of the Indy 500, Rahal Letterman Lanigan driver Katherine Legge and Dreyer & Reinhold’s No. 24, Stefan Wilson, were involved in a crash at turn 1.Stefan Wilson slowed down but Legge could not as they ran very closely heading into the first corner, crashing into the back of her fellow Brit and sending them both into the wall.Legge was out of the car, but the AMR Safety Team had to help Wilson and carried him with a stretcher to the ambulance nearby. Images showed the British driver giving a thumbs-up to the cameras. Wilson was taken directly to the Indianapolis Methodist Hospital. According to Dr. Julia Vaiser, “he’s in good spirits and he has no significant issues.”The session has been restarted, and 30 minutes were added for extra running.
